Meet the Loadmaster Staff!

Loadmaster Trailer Company specializing in boat trailers is located in beautiful Port Clinton, Ohio and is owned by Gary & Diane Straw. From 1978 to 1997, Loadmaster Trailer was a Sole Proprietorship. When the Straws purchased the company in August of 1997, the new company “Loadmaster Trailer Company, LTD” was formed. Within the first year of the Straw’s ownership they were able to double trailer sales while increasing the strength and customization of each trailer. Over the years we have built thousands of boat trailers, each built to order for the boat’s specifications and customer’s needs.

As a small family business, both of Gary and Diane’s children began working for Loadmaster part-time upon purchase. After graduating from college, both Gary Jr. and Megan began working full-time. Gary Jr. graduated in 2003 with his degree in Human Resource Management while Megan earned her Marketing degree in 2005.

Joe Araguz, our Quality Control & Operations Manager, has been with Loadmaster since 1999.

    Hi Gary,

I was checking out some websites and came across yours at Loadnaster Trailer. The photos of our trailer look pretty cool on your site! The double stack trailer that your company built for our fire department is working out really well. We added some reflective tape and lettering to identify the unit. I am still trying to come up with a method of securing a center bunk on the upper level so that our inflatable does not sit directly on the center rail. I did install 2 rollers in an attempt to keep the keel off the steel rail. It works okay but I am not satisfied with it. Would there be a way that we could install a bunk on the center rail? Give it some thought and maybe, between us, we can come up with a way to install one. The weather here is about 75 degrees and sunny. We finally got a break as we had hot temperatures and high hunidity last week ubtil the storm front came through. We ressponded to a number of emergency calls. Were you guys hit by any of the tornadoes? Have a good day.

Hi. I always like meg’s responses. Here’s another opportunity. I transport vessels here and there. I am considerimg a new trailer. Are all of your axles breaking? As a varied user, I sometimesI dismount two or four wheels from the 4 axles depending on load. This prevents much scuffing on sharp radius turns. My current, only the front two axles are electrically braked. This hasn’t been a problem so far. Please respond with thoughts. Tnx.

    Hi Dan,

We build all of our boat trailers with all wheel brakes, that way each trailer is legal in every state and Canada. Our standard braking system on our boat trailers are all wheel electric drum. For people who plan to use their boat trailers in salt water we upgrade to an electric over hydraulic, stainless disc braking system. We can build with surge brakes, however we aren’t a huge fan of them.

If you are looking for a boat trailer to fit many boats and hull, we do build a multi-fit boat trailer that is easily adjustable and accurately supports all/most hull types.

Hi– Do you deliver trailers to Chautauqua (western new york state ) or does the customer pick up from you directly or from your dealer in western new york or Ohio?

  • 8 admin // Sep 3, 2010 at

    Mr. Jackson,

Thank you for asking about pickup/delivery of our Loadmaster boat trailers. Each trailer is custom built so we do not have stocking boat trailer dealers. We can, however, have the trailer delivered to you if you would like, or you are welcome to pick up your new Loadmaster trailer and see our facility here in Ohio. Thanks again.

Can you tell me what the difference is between you, Loadmaster Trailer Co., and Loadmaster Aluminum Boat Trailers in Tampa Florida? The trailers look like the same. I have owned 1 Loadmaster and I thought it was the best trailer. Thank you very much………..Leon Jeffcoat
